Happy Mother's Day!

Today we spent a relaxing day gearing up for a busy week. Jane enjoyed her Malawian Mother's Day with a cold beer, chocolate, cheese, and tea. We also watched movies while I knit new swatches for our groups.

Over the past week we've enjoyed getting to know the many great mothers in our support groups that work hard to keep their children HIV negative. It is hard work and expensive with all the travel to get the medications but it is life changing.

Anniversary Trip

This year is packed with trips both in May and August. I'm really excited about what this year will bring. As I have just finished my packing I wanted to share a picture of all the VHS tapes I'm bringing to Malawi. 

I have been working on taking the tape out of the cassettes so I could carry more in my luggage. Thank you so much for everyone who donated tapes. We will accept more donations since we are going back in a few months. 

I am excited to share that my amazing mother-in-law, Jane, is coming with me as a volunteer for this trip, it will be her first time to Africa, glad she will visit the Warm Heart of Aftica!!

This will be the last update for a few days while I will be in transit to Malawi but I will let everyone know when we arrive and start working!!

T minus 1 month!

There is only 1 month until I journey back to Malawi for 2 weeks to work with more groups. We've been doing a lot to prepare for this visit. I have a wonderful friend coming with me, Ashley, who is incredibly excited for her first trip to Malawi. Last month I met with the owner of Gather Here in Boston, MA. If you are ever in the are I suggest a trip. Gather Here is a wonderful store that sells many crafting items such as yarn, fabric, buttons and offers many creative ideas, patterns and classes.

I hope that Gather Here can help us spread the word about our organization. 

This month we also applied to be a vendor at Crafty Bastards in Washington, DC this fall. If we are selected to be a vendor I hope that many of you will stop by to check out our items for sale. 

We are also looking into a monthly email newsletter but are still in the development phases, keep tuned for when we have more information.
